Terms of Service

Last updated: April 2026

1. The service

NHS Decoder is an AI-powered information service operated by Sierra21 Software Studio that helps people in the UK understand letters and correspondence from the NHS in plain English. It explains what letters mean, outlines relevant patient rights, and suggests what steps you may wish to take.

NHS Decoder is not a medical practice, clinical service, or regulated health provider. It does not provide medical advice. Nothing produced by this service constitutes clinical or medical advice, and no patient-provider relationship is created by using this service. NHS Decoder is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to NHS England, NHS Scotland, NHS Wales, or HSC Northern Ireland.

2. Not medical advice — important

All output from NHS Decoder — including decode summaries, rights explanations, suggested questions, and any other content — is provided for general information purposes only. It reflects our AI's interpretation of the text you submit and should not be treated as a definitive clinical interpretation of your medical situation or your rights in a specific case.

Healthcare is complex, fact-specific, and constantly evolving. You should not make any medical, legal, or practical decisions solely on the basis of our output. We strongly recommend speaking to your GP, NHS 111, or a qualified health professional before taking any action in relation to your health or treatment.

NHS Decoder accepts no liability for any loss, damage, or disadvantage arising from reliance on information provided by this service.

3. AI limitations

Our decodes are generated by artificial intelligence. AI systems can make errors, misinterpret content, miss context, or produce incomplete analysis. Our output should be used as a starting point for understanding your letter — not as a definitive or complete interpretation. If anything in the decode concerns you, speak to a qualified health professional before acting.

4. Payments

Payments are processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd, who acts as Merchant of Record on behalf of Sierra21 Software Studio. All prices are in GBP and include applicable taxes. You will receive a receipt from Paddle at the email address provided at checkout.

5. Refund policy

Please see our Refund Policy for full details.

6. Acceptable use

You may use NHS Decoder for personal, non-commercial purposes to understand your own NHS correspondence. You may not:

7. Intellectual property

All content on nhsdecoder.com, including the design, code, guides, and output methodology, is owned by Sierra21 Software Studio. The text of your decode is provided for your personal use. You may not reproduce or distribute it commercially without our permission.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sierra21 Software Studio shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use this service. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the service shall not exceed the amount you paid for the relevant decode.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
